In celebration of the  “Day of Portugal” and the “Day of Saint Anthony of Lisbon”

Galway City holds Portuguese recipes and music

The Portuguese Association of Ireland promotes, Saturday, the 13th of June of 2009, at 5 PM, in Galway city,  a BBQ, in celebration of the “Day of Portugal” and the “Day of Saint Anthony of Lisbon”. Traditional courses- sardines and pork roasted over charcoal,  homemade bread and, of course,  portuguese wine are some of the delicacies that can be tasted.

The “Fado” (a form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics that was created in Portugal) will be interpreted by Diana Silva, a portuguese singer that is living in Galway since her childhoodd. She will also sing some of the most popular portuguese songs.

The PAI - Portuguese Association of Ireland expects to group together a few dozens of portuguese that are living all over Ireland, as well as others, that share the same mother tonge, from countries of South America and Africa. The PAI also hopes   that  residents of the city of Galway  will come and enjoy this unusual event.

The PAI – Portuguese Association of Ireland was created last year  in Galway. Its main role is to help the integration of all portuguese and to promote the divulgation of the portuguese cultural heritage in Ireland. Since January, portuguese language classes have being taught to children of several nationalities, in most cases, to bring out  their mother tonge, or to learn a new language.
